March 28th, 2025: The Green Bay Packers have signed former Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Kristian Welch. Welch does not play much on defense, but rather, gets his money via special teams. Not only that, but he has familiarity with the Packers, as he played for them in 2023, so he will be a tremendous addition for the third phase of the game.
March 21st, 2025: The Kansas City Chiefs have signed away another depth piece from the Packers secondary, as CB Robert Rochell has signed with them for one year according to Adam Schefter from ESPN. At this point, the Packers are now most likely going to go CB hunting in the 2025 NFL Draft because they have lost two important depth pieces in Rochell and Ballentine.
March 18th, 2025: The Packers have signed a WR, though not the one fans were hoping for. According to Jeremy Fowler from ESPN, they have signed WR Mecole Hardman from the Kansas City Chiefs. He has not played a big part of offenses these past few years with the New York Jets and the former team mentioned above, but he is a capable returner for kickoffs and punts. This shows that the Packers are going to let CB Keisean Nixon play primarily corner and have WR Jayden Reed play an expanded role on the offense, since he is now expected to play special teams less. While the signing is very underwhelming, it helps the starters focus more on their primary positions.
March 14th, 2025: Former Packers CB Corey Ballentine has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, which the Colts announced. He provided very valuable depth to the Green Bay Packers. While this may not look like a major loss for the Packers, it will be if the starting CBs get hurt, as backups have to come in and contribute. And now Green Bay has one less backup.
March 14th, 2025: According to Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings took former Packers Linebacker Eric Wilson and signed him to a contract. He started his career with the Vikings and decided to head back to where he first began his NFL career. For the Packers, he contributed to special teams and to the defense very well. However, as stated, the Packers have their 3rd Round pick from last year in Linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper, who not only contributed to special teams, but might be expected to contribute to the defense this year. The Packers may be thinking he is ready for an expanded role.
March 12th, 2025: According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the New York Jets are signing Center Josh Myers to a $3.5 million deal for one-year. There were not many people expecting this, as they thought he would get big-time money. Instead, Myers did not get the offers he wanted and signed with a team to potentially earn a bigger contract for next year.
March 12th, 2025: Per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed former RB AJ Dillon. Dillon is most likely signed to provide competition for the backup RB role. The deal indicates that Dillon could even get cut, and that he is not the permanent backup RB. There is also another reason, as second-year player, RB Will Shipley is there. The Eagles will probably give Shipley more leeway, since he is a past draft pick of theirs.
March 11th, 2025: According to Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders signed former Packers CB Eric Stokes to a $4 million deal for one year. This has the looks of a prove it deal for Stokes. Stokes has a lot on the line. If he does poorly with the Raiders, his NFL career could be over.
March 10th, 2025: Per Pelissero, Green Bay and CB Nate Hobbs from the Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to a contract that gives Hobbs $48 million over four years, with $16 million guaranteed. This gives the Packers their slot corner, and there are rumors that he may even play on the outside if the Packers do ultimately trade CB Jaire Alexander. This deal is much better, even though Hobbs has had down years these three previous seasons for the Raiders. The good news for him is that he gets to play in a similar defense that he broke out during his rookie year. The expectation is that he will be much improved compared to the last three seasons.
March 10th, 2025: The Packers have lost Defensive Tackle TJ Slaton to the Cincinnati Bengals, who have signed him to a $15.1 million deal over two years per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Overall, Green Bay made the right decision, as Slaton was more of a run stopper than anything. Those types of players can be found in the draft quite easily, so why pay the big bucks when you can find a very similar player in the later rounds of this year’s draft?
March 10th, 2025: According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers have signed OG Aaron Banks from the San Francisco 49ers, signing him to a four-year deal worth $78. This is a lot of money for a player that experts have mixed reviews about, but he comes from a very similar offense. Banks provides Green Bay versatility on their offensive line, which allows them to play LG Elgton Jenkins at Center, who has had past experience at the position. Jenkins will most likely replace former Center Josh Myers, who was not the greatest for the team. This should be an interesting situation to watch unfold.
March 7th, 2025: WR Bo Melton is staying in Green Bay as he was tendered by the team. This is great for the team, as he provides valuable depth to the WR room and is good when asked to go on the field. He can make plays when needed by the team. He is a great backup option for the price the Packers are paying. This is also true for DE Arron Mosby. He has been a very good depth piece for the team. He shows his talents in the preseason and is a developmental player with some upside.
March 6th, 2025: The Packers tendered three players (they were exclusive rights free agents). They were able to re-sign RB Emanuel Wilson, OL Kadeem Tefort, and punter Daniel Whelan per Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber. Wilson is a very valuable second-string RB, but could move down the depth chart as last year’s 3rd Round pick, RB Marshawn Lloyd will be healthy. Green Bay may give more opportunities to Lloyd since he has much more upside than Wilson. If he does fall down the depth chart, he is still a good signing since it gives the position more options to use. Telfort is also a decent player to keep, as he provides stability and consistency to the Packers offensive line. He is not the greatest option, but is valuable when his fellow offensive linemen get hurt. He knows the scheme very well too. Finally, Whelan is a great player to keep, as he has high end potential. Even though he ranks in the 20s for almost every punting category, he is tied for 6th longest punt, which was 74 yards. All of the statistics are according to ESPN. Overall, these are decent players to keep for cheap.
March 5th, 2025: The Green Bay Packers tendered Safety Zayne Anderson, who was an exclusive rights free agent according to Tom Pelissero. This keeps him there one year, where he provides valuable depth. He had one interception and two pass deflections in a game late last year when he played against the New Orleans Saints.
March 4th, 2025: Kicker Brandon McManus re-signed with the Green Bay Packers per a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal is worth $15.3 million over three years. This is an ideal situation for the Packers because they were able to keep one of the more reliable kickers in the league that fixed the team’s issues with field goals last year. Before they signed McManus last season, they had Anders Carlson and Brayden Narveson, who showed flashes but were never consistent. They also had Greg Joseph during training camp, but he was not good considering he was a veteran.
March 3rd, 2025: According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Packers and Linebacker Isaiah McDuffie have agreed to a new, two-year, $8 million dollar contract (with the max value being worth $9.5 million). While this is a minor deal, it provides stability for the defense and the Linebacker position, where fellow Linebacker Eric Wilson is about to hit the free agency market. McDuffie has been consistent for Green Bay’s defense and Wilson could very well earn more money than McDuffie in the free agent market. It is a good deal for the Packers, as they do not need to prioritize the Linebacker position in the NFL Draft. They have their top two Linebackers in Quay Walker and Edgerrin Cooper, who could possibly become stars at their respective positions. Not only that, but McDuffie provides competition to 2024 3rd Round Draft pick Ty’Ron Hopper, who will fight for the 3rd Linebacker spot in the Packers 4-3 defense.
