March 15th, 2025: The Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers made a trade that looks forward to the future. The Vikings received backup RB Jordan Mason and in return, gave up a 2026 6th Round pick. The teams also swapped picks, with the 49ers getting a 2025 5th Round pick and the Vikings acquiring a 2025 6th Round pick. Minnesota gets a capable RB and potentially a future starter as RB Aaron Jones becomes older. Meanwhile, the 49ers get picks, and although they are not very high, it shows that they have confidence in their other backup RB, Isaac Guerendo. He has shown flashes, and the 49ers must think that he can contribute to the team as they look to lower starting RB Christian McCaffrey’s workload, assuming that is the 49ers plan. Overall, it gives the both teams opportunities to look to see what they have in their possible starting RBs in the years ahead.
March 13th, 2025: The Houston Texans are retooling their offensive line after trading two pieces away. Now, they have OG Ed Ingram from the Minnesota Vikings, as they traded a 2026 6th Round pick to Minnesota according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. Despite Ingram’s struggles, the Texans’ trade is good because they gave up so little. Therefore, if he does badly in training camp, they can cut him with little repercussions.
March 12th, 2025: The Dallas Cowboys were not done shopping for bargains, as they traded with the Tennessee Titans for Linebacker Kenneth Murray according to Rapoport. Then, the teams swapped late round picks, with the Titans getting a 2025 5th Round and Dallas receiving a 2025 6th Round pick. Both teams confirmed this on their respective websites. The Cowboys are hoping for Murray to become somewhat valuable for the team. As stated for the previous trade, he is also a reclamation project.
March 12th, 2025: The Dallas Cowboys went thrift shopping, as they traded for Buffalo Bills CB Kaiir Elam and gave up a 2025 5th Round pick and a 2026 7th Round pick per Tom Pelissero. Dallas also got a 2025 6th Round pick out of the deal. He is a reclamation project for the Cowboys, as they are hoping to get something out of Elam. They tried to do the same thing a few years ago by trading for QB Trey Lance, but it did not work out. They are hoping for a different result.
March 11th, 2025: The Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans made a big-time trade, as the Eagles traded away Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson for OG Kenyon Green according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The teams also swapped picks, with the Texans receiving a 2026 6th Round pick and the Eagles acquiring a 2026 5th Round pick. The Texans got the better of the trade because they now have a menace in their new player, as Gardner-Johnson brings intensity on to the field. The Philadelphia Eagles also made a sneaky move, as the new scenery could make OG Kenyon Green better. This worked out for Mekhi Becton, whose career was going down the drain before going to the Philadelphia Eagles, so maybe the same will happen for Green too.
March 10th, 2025: The Philadelphia Eagles traded away QB Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 5th Round Pick. The Eagles won this trade, as they got rid of an unreliable player and got a player with upside, along with a 2025 draft pick. This trade also shows how desperate Cleveland is after the disastrous QB Deshaun Watson from a few years ago. The Browns are ready to start over, even if that means sitting Watson, who makes a crazy amount of money.
March 10th, 2025: OT Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans got traded to the Washington Commanders for four draft picks, which are a 2025 3rd Round pick, a 2025 7th Round pick, a 2026 2nd Round pick and finally, a 2026 4th Round pick. Houston also traded away a 2025 4th Round pick. This is a huge trade from the Commanders’ perspective, as they traded for one of the top OTs in the game and it shows that the Commanders are willing to do whatever it takes to get to a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Houston received multiple picks, but it makes no sense, as Tunsil was their best offensive lineman. Not only that, but the Texans were horrible protecting QB C.J. Stroud last season.
March 10th, 2025: The New Orleans Saints have traded for New England Patriots DT Davon Godchaux. The latter team received a 2026 7th Round pick per Adam Schefter. This is a good trade for the Saints as they give up a late round pick for next year and get a run stopper. New Orleans’ defense was horrible last year, so they have a reinforcement to stop the run.
March 9th, 2025: A tremendous trade happened in the NFL, as the Seattle Seahawks honored Wide Receiver DK Metcalf’s trade request and traded him away for a 2025 2nd Round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport of nfl.com. Pelissero also reports that the Steelers also gave Metcalf a new contract, which is a five-year contract worth $150 million and averages $33 million per year. This is the highest annual average the Steelers have ever given out. The Steelers get a big-time #1 option for whoever is their next QB. Not only that, but Pittsburgh still has WR George Pickens, who will be open more often now. The Steelers will be very dangerous and the only thing the team needs now is a good QB.
March 7th, 2025: A huge trade just went down, as the Las Vegas Raiders traded for QB Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 3rd Round pick according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. While this is good for the Raiders, it may not be for Smith, as he does not have as many good weapons as he did in Seattle. However, Smith does have familiarity with the Raiders new head coach Pete Carroll, who were in Seattle together. Also, Raiders minority owner Tom Brady must be happy and have a plan in place about how to improve the team. Meanwhile, it was shocking to see the Seahawks make the trade due to the fact that there are not many other good QBs on the market. And they only received a 3rd Round pick. It was not a good deal for the Seahawks and the Raiders won the trade by a large margin.
March 6th, 2025: The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans made a rare inter-division trade. The trade involved the Texans receiving WR Christian Kirk in exchange for a 2026 7th Round Pick according to Adam Schefter from ESPN. This was a decent trade by Houston, as they gave up a very low draft pick two years from now for a WR that has somewhat produced in the past. Kirk’s stats are not the greatest, but the fact they got somebody for a draft pick two years down the road is a great deal. He is a decent #2 option behind new teammate WR Nico Collins, but could be a solid #3 option if the Texans draft WR Rounds 1-3.
March 5th, 2025: The Chicago Bears made yet another trade for an offensive lineman, but this time with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bears got OG Joe Thuney in exchange for a 2026 4th Round pick. This is an excellent trade by Chicago because they gave up very little for Thuney, who is an experienced player and durable. He has only missed two games per NFL Network’s website. He also played a very important part in Kansas City’s last three Super Bowl runs. The fact that the Bears were able to pull this off is an impressive feat, and the Bears should be better because of the trade.
March 4th, 2025: The Los Angeles Rams traded LG Jonah Jackson away to the Chicago Bears for a 2025 6th Round pick. This is a good trade from the Rams’ perspective because not only did they dump a player that got benched, but also got the Chicago Bears to take on his salary. Meanwhile, the Bears did not give much up to get Jackson, and could also use him as an important depth piece if some of the offensive linemen were to get hurt. Ultimately though, the Rams won the trade as of now.
March 1st, 2025: The first major trade of the 2025 offseason occurred. The San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders agreed to a trade that would send WR Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders for a 2025 5th Round pick. The Commanders should have fun utilizing him. He can play a variety of roles on offense, whether that would be at his typical position or at RB. That is what the 49ers did and most likely, the Commanders will do the same. However, Deebo Samuel has gotten hurt a lot throughout his career. He does play through injuries, but it does affect his performance, as he has only surpassed 1,000 receiving yards once throughout his six-year career according to ESPN. While Samuel has plenty of upside and has shown in the past what he is capable of doing, this is a fair trade. That may shock a lot of people because Samuel has shown his versatility on the football field and is one of the better talents in the NFL. However, he is almost always playing hurt, and if he were to stay healthy, the 49ers would have received a higher draft pick. The Commanders gave up a 5th Rounder, but this could prove to be a steal if Samuel does indeed stay healthy and produce similar stats to his career high year.
